Up and Down
// November 15th, 2004 // General
Lived this weekend like “proper” students (y). Takeaways, drinking, early morning to bed, and early afternoon to rise. Went for a takeaway on Thursday, got a balti from Surushi, first time we’d been there, it was quite a good balti, the peshwari naan, wasn’t as good as the Shumas though
Thursday night we went walking for like four miles (via Asda of course) while discussing the human concept of time – which was quite fun, I like the discussions we frequently have, it stretches the mind. Just as we were emerging from Oxford Gardens we were stopped by the police. They searched us and took our details. It was kind of fun in a way, never been searched before – added a little excitement to the night. It was interesting to note the difference in attitude between the two constables, the WPC one seemed much more thorough, she sniffed wallets and asked about Asda purchases. The PC didn’t do any of those things and managed to search two of us in the time it took the WPC to do one.
Friday I went to uni, had the Control Systems part of SPCCS, it looks like it could be quite interesting (y). I walked back home via the gadgety shop kind of place, they’d sold the cheap TFT monitors that I’d noticed (n). I arrived home, did some more SPCCS work – I’m now feeling quite confidant about it, since I clicked on about how to do a particular task.
Friday afternoon Tom G arrived and we ended up going to Ali’s for food, I got a selection box which is kebab, chips, southern fried chicken and chicken nuggets, kind of pointless really, a ‘value box’ has the same minus the nuggets and 90p cheaper. Anyways we got back, ate and started drinking. Shortly after Kez, Rob and Andy arrived, so we departed to Asda to purchase drinks for the weekend. Armed with several litres of vodka, cheap Asda red bull and a keg of WKD we walked back. When we got in we started drinking and watching movies. By the time it rolled around to like one everyone was pretty drunk. After a while Nick, Meggs and I went for a walk and spent a while stood on the bridge chatting about life. When we returned most everybody had gone to bed.
Saturday afternoon I woke up last, and joined the lengthy shower queue. Then I came down and did some more SPCCS, then we realised the rugby game wasn’t being shown on tv, so the trip to the pub to watch it was out. Which didn’t really bother me, so I finished up my work. Then sat in the front room playing four player FIFA for a few hours, which was quite fun. For tea we ordered pizza from Perfect Pizza – which was good, and reasonably priced, no student discount though (n)
During the evening we watched Shaun of the Dead on dvd – still not saw the extras on it mind. Then we sat around and played a drinking game, only it wasn’t very good because the game was really easy, most people didn’t have a clue what answers had gone and to top it off people kept cheating. It ended up fizzling out after a while, and I came in my room for a while, Nick joined me shortly after and we devised some improvements to the game, which might make it more feasible in the future. Then we played more FIFA
Not really done much today, got up late, said goodbye to Andy, Rob et al. Then went out for a drive around Staffordshire. I got back and gave Sara a ring, which nearly degenerated into an argument. I laid down on my bed thinking about us and half fell asleep when someone came in and asked for a hand with something. Anyway I’ve managed to convince Nick and Evv to use Firefox and iTunes (y) Shortly after I got a text message from Sara, which did degenerate into an argument. This time it was my jealousy that started it, only I actually have good reason to be that way, after the comment she made in the phonecall. Hmph. Swings and roundabouts.
